Major Rule Changes for 2020 Season

UpdatedTuesday December 31, 2019 byBret Lavey.

We're continuing to discuss proposed changes to our Major League Division.  For the upcoming season, we're implementing:

  • Must Play Rule.  Each player must have at least one plate appearance or half inning of defense in each complete game.
  • 16 Game Schedule.  Each Major team will play 16 games, including some 3-game weeks.  The tournament remains unchanged with the season-ending Championship Game planned for Fun Day, May 30th, 2020.
  • Junior Major.  Plans are in the works to make our Junior Major Division more competitive.  More details coming soon.
  • Sunday Showcase(s).  On select Sunday(s) in April and May, Major Managers plan to host optional practices/skill competitions to provide more opportunities to evaluate players prior to All-Star voting.  Other divisions (Minor, Rookie, and T-Ball) may also adopt this practice based on coaches' feeback.

As always, the Board always welcomes your feedback!  #SLpride
